The story The opening act
The Tokyo Manji Gang had killed Hinata Tachibana and her younger brother Naoto, according to Takemichi Hanagaki, a freeter in his thirties, who received the news one day. Both Hinata and Naoto belonged to the Tachibana family. When Takemichi is pushed in front of a train, he is able to go back in time exactly twelve years to the year 2005. When Takemichi is reliving his middle school years, he meets with Naoto and informs him the exact day that he and Hinata would die. When they shake hands, Takemichi is immediately sent back to the present, creating a paradoxical situation where Naoto is able to continue living and working as a detective. Naoto has concluded that Takemichi is time-traveled by an additional 15 years everytime the two of them hold hands. Takemichi has resolved to use the knowledge he has learned from the future to rescue Hinata.

Takemichi’s former allies were forced to take part in clandestine combat that was overseen by Kiyomasa, a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang. Mikey, the leader of the group, respects Takemichi for his steadfast dedication to their safety. Takemichi discovers that one of his other friends, Akkun, was about to be jailed until his recent encounter with Mikey prevented it. When Akkun kills himself out of fear, Takemichi realizes that the Tokyo Manji Gang is a larger threat to his friends than he first thought.

As a consequence of his time travel, Takemichi learns that the Tokyo Manji Gang is at war with the rival gang Moebius in order to get vengeance on Pah-companion. Takemichi learns that Mikey’s second-in-command, Draken, will be killed in the future, which will eventually cause Mikey to act violently. Draken escapes the altercation unhurt, but Pah-chin turns himself in to the police after stabbing the leader of the Moebius gang, Osanai. As a consequence, there are differences of opinion among the Tokyo Manji Gang over how to best help Pah-chin in this circumstance.

Mikey and Draken’s dispute is successfully resolved by Takemichi, however on August 3, 2005, the Tokyo Manji Gang was assaulted by a group of Moebius members led by Shoji Hanma, a Valhalla member. Takemichi learns that Peh-yan joined their plot after Mikey and Draken allowed Pah-chin to be imprisoned, and that Kiyomasa stabbed Draken because Draken humiliated him and made him leave the Tokyo Manji Gang. Peh-yan imparts this knowledge to Takemichi. The fight is won by the Tokyo Manji Gang, Takemichi defeats Kiyomasa, and Draken recovers completely from his injuries.

“Valhalla” and “Bloody Halloween” arcs
Takemichi returns to the present after traveling across time, only to find that Hinata and his companions are still dying in this version of the events. Takemichi only had knowledge of Tetta Kisaki’s role in the violent transformation of the Tokyo Manji Gang when he ventured back in time. When he got to the past, he saw that Kisaki had just joined the gang and had used Pah’s absence as an opportunity to become the new leader of his division. The first division captain, Keisuke Baji, will also be leaving to join Valhalla after being persuaded to do so by Kazutora Hanemiya, a former Tokyo Manji Gang co-founder. To keep his promise to Takemichi, Mikey will exclude Kisaki from the gang if he is successful in winning Baji back. Takemichi is now a legitimate member of the Tokyo Manji Gang after being admitted into Takashi Mitsuya’s division.
